4.2.3Use violence-related discourse

The third strategy identified in the dataset is the use of violence-related discourse, namely, references to death, (death) threats and other types of physical injuries, which the morally offended posters might see as the only way to punish the wrongdoer (see Kádár 2017). It would be fair to say that such references were not frequent in the comment section, but the other posts by the author indicate that she received threats sent to her as private messages on Facebook Messenger.14 It is important to point out that all the violent comments also include insults that create the feeling of escalated aggression. The following three comments all refer to death, but are constructed differently:15
